Explore the basics of drumming. Traditional African rhythms and djembe techniques will be taught. We will have a facilitated drum circle, so you can get playing and have fun!
High-quality African drums (djembes) and instruments will be supplied for class use. Or you may bring your own to play.

The Salt Lake Scots Drum Corps will present a FREE demonstration and clinic in Pipe Band Drumming to celebrate International Drum Month at the Columbus Center in Salt Lake City.The City of West Jordan is holding a Patriot Day Tattoo Friday, September 11th. This “tattoo” is not designed to be imprinted on skin but rather in the hearts of those who take part in this sensory feast. The Patriot Day Tattoo is patterned after the world-famous Edinburgh, Scotland Tattoo where pipe bands, drummers, military regiments, dancers have performed. The West Jordan Patriot Day Tattoo will remember Patriot Day with a 1,500-flag Healing Field, pipe bands, drum corps, the 23rd Army Band, Highland Dancers, a joint service color guard and other entertainment. A marketplace with arts, crafts, and ethnic foods opens at 5:00 p.m. and can be enjoyed before and during the Tattoo entertainment. For more information, call Julie Brown at (801) 569-5119.
