Health & Preparedness Expo

West Jordan is hosting a Health & Preparedness Expo. The event includes a 5K Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m. Games, demonstrations and activities for the whole family will be offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Jordan Valley Medical Center will offer free cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose and prostate cancer tests. The Jordan River Animal Hospital will provide free pet exams (vaccinations and ID chips are available for an extra cost.)

Alta Ski Free After 3

Sunnyside Lift provides access to long gentle slopes in the Albion Basin, ideal for beginners and those just learning to ski. Adventurous skiers may find some shorter intermediate trails through the trees. If you are planning on teaching a child or friend to ski for the first time, start on Alta’s rope tows which, are free all day long, and when ready, move over to the Sunnyside Lift.

Sunnyside Lift is a detachable triple making it easy to get on and off the chair.

Eat Like A Pilgrim

17th Century Thanksgiving Day Holiday ReenactmentJoin us and partake of an authentic pilgrim feast this holiday season. Thanksgiving Point’s Show Barn will be transformed to immerse you in the culture of the very first Thanksgiving, complete with the sights, sounds, and foods of the 17th century.

Upon arrival, you’ll receive biographical information about one of the pilgrims who attended the first Thanksgiving. You’ll spend an evening seeing life through this person’s eyes as you take a step back into early America.Your hosts will be prominent pilgrim figures, played by actors, who wear period clothing and share customs and traditions of the time.Young ones will delight in traditional games and activities and barnyard visitors. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to celebrate and understand Thanksgiving in fun and new ways.

Disney Days for Kids!

It’s going to be a blast for kids and parents alike! We all know summertime can be a challenge to keep kids active and entertained, so we’re inviting kids and parents from all around SLC, including schools, daycares, and summer programs, to visit the Gallivan Center for an afternoon of healthy fun with our friends at Radio Disney! Kids will love this day of prizes, Disney Dancers, face painters, and a bounce house.

Breakfast With Santa

Enjoy the Holiday tradition of eating breakfast with Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, the Gingerbread Man, and Buddy the Elf at Thanksgiving Point. There will be crafts, games, cookie decorating and yummy breakfast for all to enjoy. Pictures with Santa will be available for purchase at the event.

Utah Green Festival

The 2nd Annual Utah Green Festival features alternative fuel vehicles, solar, wind, geothermal, and electric power providers, local nurseries, farmer market vendors, community organizations, and a variety of statewide organizations emphasizing sustainability in their product, services, or organization. Reducing your carbon footprint is easy, cost-effective, and fun.

The festival will feature vendors, experts, live music, children’s activities, green workshops every thirty minutes, a climbing wall, a bounce house, food, and fun. Best of all, admission is free.

The Conservation Garden Park is uniquely situated to host the Utah Green Festival because of its emphasis on educating the public on ways to save water and energy through Waterwise landscaping methods and water conservation.

American Heritage Festival

Experience daily life of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries at this family-centered event. Learn what it was like in a Mountain Man Camp in the 1830s and how Colonial Soldiers lived on a campaign. Learn about Native American culture, 18th/19th century military history and the cowboys of the late 1800s. It’s all here, with music, demonstrations, crafts and even a candy cannon!

A Historical Talent Show and Buckskinner’s Ball is 8 p.m. Saturday, get in for $1 admission. The other events are free.
