Hayes Christensen Theatre - University of Utah Marriott Center of Dance, Salt Lake City, Utah, Modern Dance Venue, Performance, Ballet, Concert Hall

The formal performance space in the Marriott Center for Dance, The Hayes Christensen Theatre, was named in honor of Elizabeth R. Hayes and William Christensen, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to dance and the University of Utah.

The 333-seat professional theatre, shared by the Departments of Modern Dance and Ballet, has 14 rows of seating steeply raked to permit all audience members an excellent view. On stage left is a quick change room, restroom, and a ballet barre with an electric-radiant panel to warm dancers’ legs and feet.

Versatile yet intimate theatre can accommodate various live and unique performances. There’s not a bad seat in the house.

The Hayes Christensen Theatre has hosted lectures, conventions, lunch meetings, auditions, rehearsals, concerts, and live events, to name a few. In addition to the Theatre, The Marriott Center for Dance has space and studios to accommodate every activity.

Celebrate the art of modern dance as some of Utah’s most talented young dancers take the stage! Presented by Tanner Dance Company as part of the Repertory Dance Theatre’s Ring Around the Rose dance series.

Ring Around the Rose is Repertory Dance Theatre’s wiggle-friendly series of performances for children and families that explores the magical world of the arts, including dance, theatre, music and storytelling. Ring Around the Rose is made possible in part by grants from the Utah Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, Salt Lake City Arts Council, and the Salt Lake County Zoo, Arts & Parks program.

All shows begin at 11:00 am at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W Broadway, Salt Lake City. Tickets are $5 for all seats (ages 2 and under free) and can be purchased in advance by calling ArtTix at 801-355-ARTS.

So You Think You Can Dance

The highly anticipated production will feature this season’s most popular routines and original pieces created specifically for the nationwide tour.

Audiences around the country can now experience the inspirational action brought to their living rooms twice a week on television, live and in person. The dynamic dancer line-up includes a mix of Season 7 contestants: Adéchiké, Ashley, Billy, Jose, Kent, Lauren, and Robert, as well as All-Stars, including, Ade, Allison, Courtney, Dominic, and Kathryn. Also joining is Season 6 winner Russell.

“Now in its’ 7th season, we continue to marvel at the raw talent discovered on this unique show. We are so pleased to share this talent with thousands of fans across the country. It’s also very exciting to be able to include All-Stars on this tour,” stated Nigel Lythgoe, who is a judge and co-creator of the hit Fox show.
