Sweet Sunny South is an acoustic old-timey string band that plays a unique blend of new and traditional music. Based in Paonia, Colorado, the band has been making a name for itself at festivals and theaters throughout the region for the past 8 years and received invitations to perform as an official showcase band for both the IBMA and The Folk Alliance in 2006. The group was also featured as one of Colorado’s “Movers and Shakers” in Denver’s Westword Magazine in 2007 and were selected the winners of the New Belgium Brewery’s “What’s your Folly?” contest after writing a jingle for the brewery. Sweet Sunny South represents the traditional music of greats such as The Stanley Brothers and The Carter Family at the same time drawing influences from more contemporary bands such as The Freighthoppers, The Wilders and The Reeltime Travelers.

Luke Bulla (Lyle Lovett), Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek) and Glen Phillips
WPA is an expandable collective, with Luke Bulla (Lyle Lovett), Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek) and Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket) at its core.
Works Progress Administration takes its name from FDR’s 1939 New Deal initiative, which put millions to work making buildings, bridges, theater, art and music. The original WPA was rooted in the values of community and creativity, and helped to keep the fire of human dignity burning through the darkest years of the Great Imposters.
WPA was born out of the musical community surrounding the legendary LA club, Largo. The members of the band had known and admired each other for years, and found themselves with a strong batch of unrecorded songs, a little down time, and a collective feeling that it might be a good idea to put something on tape.

The Avett Brothers
With the Heartless Basturds
When the Avett Brothers play, you hear a deep love for music. Their songs are honest: just chords with real voices singing real melodies. But, the heart and the energy with which they are sung, get people to start talking, and are the reasons why so many sing along. North Carolina’s Avett Brothers play acoustic music that has roots in traditional folk and bluegrass, but also captures the high spirits and no-boundaries attitude of rock & roll — which is appropriate, since rock is where Scott Avett and Seth Avett cut their teeth as musicians.
The Lovell Sisters
There is a word often used when describing rising Americana stars The Lovell Sisters: Passion. It’s what these three young women (ages 18-23) feel when they step on stage. Passion is the fuel that feeds their writing and arranging, and it colors every note they play and sing on Time To Grow, their upcoming album. Winners of Prairie Home Companion’s National Teen Talent Competition in 2005, the Lovell Sisters spread the heavenly harmony of sisterhood and sibling string virtuosity — Jessica on fiddle, Megan on dobro, Rebecca on guitar and mandolin (the first female to win the Merlefest mandolin contest).”
