Avenues Street Fair

Avenues Street Fair, Salt Lake City, Utah, Live Music, Entertainment, Family FunThe Avenues Street Fair committee has been hard at work for the last few months. We are pleased to announce that the Street Fair will be held on 7th Avenue this year between “I” and “N” streets. The closeness to Lindsey Gardens will add some much appreciated green space for fair visitors to sit and enjoy the entertainment or just relax after walking the 5 blocks full of booths and delicious food.
.

The entertainment committee has been listening to music from a variety of groups and they tell us that they have put together a selection to satisfy anyone’s musical taste.

Our People’s Art Gallery is just getting under way, so if you are an Avenues artist, of any age, please remember to fill out an application to submit your work for the rest of us to enjoy. We also have an enthusiastic group of volunteers working on some exciting raffle prizes so save up your money for your chance at great raffle items.

More Information

Grammy-winning Loudon Wainwright III and Patty Larkin will be the featured acts at the 2010 Moab Folk Festival in Moab, Utah.

Wainwright, who has been performing for 40 years as both a musician and actor, won a Grammy earlier this year in Traditional Folk music for his album High, Wide & Handsome. Larkin, who is making her second appearance at the Moab festival, celebrated her 25th year as a performer by releasing her new album 25, on which she performs with a roster of guest artists that reads like a music Hall of Fame.

Also on this year’s program are Sloan Wainwright, Loudon’s sister; Darol Anger, Sharon Gilchrist & Scott Law; Po’ Girl; Caroline Herring; Peter Mulvey; Elephant Revival; Tom Prasada-Rao; Tara Shupe & Broken Pony (with guest Nick Boyer of the Puddle Mountain Ramblers); and The Mile Markers. Performances will be at three venues: outdoors at Moab Ball Field, and indoors at Star Hall and Grand County High School.

Now in its eighth year, the Moab Folk Festival has grown into one of the nation’s top music showcases and has expanded the definition of “folk” to include music that reaches beyond traditional boundaries – including bluegrass, indie folk-rock, folk-fringe punk, celtic-folk and modern acoustic artists.

Vince Gill

“Vince Gill is quite simply a living prism refracting all that is good in country music. He uses the crystal planes of his songwriting, his playing, and his singing to give us a musical rainbow that embraces all men and spans all seasons.” – Kyle Young/Country Music Foundation on Vince’s induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
