Utah Center for Arts

The Utah Center for Arts is located at 2191 South 300 West. The Center hosts art exhibits from renowned and emerging artists with over 9000 sq ft. of exhibition space. The UAA (Utah Arts Alliance) also hosts poetry readings, independent film screenings, live music, dance performances, plays and more.

Programs at the center include:

Kimball Art Center’s Open Mic Night

Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous

This rendezvous scheduled on March 4, 2011 and March 5  is a reunion of western musicians, cowboy poets, and artisans to promote the culture of western life here in the beautiful Cache Valley of Northern Utah, located 90 miles north of Salt Lake City.

Bar J Wranglers, Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous, Live Music, Headliners, Country Music, Social Dancing, Western Dancing, Children's Activities, Logan, UtahThe Main Auditorium will feature the Bar J Wranglers from Jackson Hole Wyoming in concert along with guests: Canadian Songwriter – Eli Barsi, Cowboy Poet & Humorist – Andy Nelson and National Yodeling Champion – Larry Wilder. Concerts will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday March 4, 2011 with a matinee concert on Saturday March 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.

On Friday evening and all day Saturday there will be a continuous round of Cowboy Poetry and Western Music on three stages – two of which will be for ‘published’ and/or ‘professional’ performers, one being an ‘open mic’ stage for local, and/or unpublished performers. Each poet will be given a 10 minute time slot, with musicians receiving 20 minutes.

Other attractions will be dutch oven dinners, vendor and artisan trading post, educational activities and a poetry contest for kids, culminating with a family dance on Saturday evening. We welcome all ages and encourage families to attend.

Kids Corral – We are excited to have a variety of youth educational and fun programs that will be presented during the entire rendezvous event. As we try to preserve and promote the rich western culture in our area, we welcome youth and family participation. Activities slated at this time include:

  • Gold-panning
  • Educational activities and games presented by MC FFA
  • Roping demonstrations/dummies
  • American West Heritage Center Activities
  • Braiding demonstrations
  • Youth Poetry Contest – (see drop down link for more info on this).

Bar J Wrangler Concert Tickets The purchase of a Bar J Wrangler Concert Ticket includes General Admission into all other Rendezvous activities on Friday evening and all day Saturday.

General Rendezvous Admission Ticket Prices The purchase of a General Admission ticket to the Rendezvous will allow entrance Friday evening and all day Saturday, to ALL performance stages, trading post areas, and the Saturday Night Family Dance, – everything EXCEPT the Bar J Wrangler Concert.

Visual Art and Poetry Workshops

The Mundi Project is presenting a series of visual art and poetry workshops exploring water myths and meanings on Saturday January 15, 22, and 29 for youth in the Salt Lake School District.

Artwork and poetry will be displayed at and during the performance of “Water”- a multi-disciplinary piano concert on February 24 at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center.

This project is supported by ZAP, Utah Division of Arts and Museums, and the Salt Lake Arts Council.

Watercolor on Fabric

The Mundi Project welcomes students, ages 8 to 12, to paint undersea themes, waves, & sea life on fabric. Artwork will be showcased as scenic backdrops for “Water” music and dance performance in February.

An Evening with Josh Rosenthal

Josh Rosenthal, Salt Lake city, Musical Artist, Christian Music, Acoustic, Folk, Americana, IndieSinger/songwriter Josh Rosenthal will be performing at the Rose Wagner Theater, Salt Lake City, Utah on February 5.

He will be performing for the city they love and reside.  Rosenthal, originally from Texas, now calls Salt Lake City home and writes many of his songs to and for the people in this city.

If you like good music, poetry, stories you don’t want to miss out.

Singer/songwriter Johnny Cowan and poet Levi Rogers will join Rosenthal for the evening.  Rogers writes poetry with both energy and softness exploring the relationship between the guttural and spiritual.
