Wasatch Wiggle Contra Dance Weekend

Music by Great Bear Trio (New York), calling Susan Michaels (California). Susan is a teacher and a caller of traditional American dancing, especially contra dancing and square dancing. She has called and taught dances at local evenings, weekend workshops, week-long elementary school programs, week-long family camps and dance weekends throughout the U.S. and Canada. Susan believes her “calling” in life is to teach people how to hold hands in a circle. She specializes in creating joy, making community, and allowing everyone with whom she comes into contact to experience the pure pleasure of dance.

Zumba Classes

Instructor: Julie Ray. Julie has been teaching Zumba since November 2007..She has been teaching dance exercise classes for many years and has choreographed her own routines for hi low,step and multi step classes. Julie also teaches Pilates and Yoga and she is a Personal Trainer. She has been known at various fitness centers for her fun high energy classes. Zumba is no exception! Give it a try! Its a blast! Both of the fitness centers she teaches at will allow you to pay $5. or less and come to class anytime, or they offer an unlimited monthly pass. You do not need a membership.

Pagan Pride Day

Join us for a day in the park to celebrate your Pagan Pride at Salt Lake City Pagan Pride Day 2009. This year’s event will be held in Murray Park at Pavilions 1, 2 and 3 on Saturday, September 12th 10am to 6pm! There will be an opening ceremony and a ritual in the afternoon that everyone can attend. Workshops will be conducted where you can learn and explore different walks of pagan life. Throughout the day you can explore booths with information about pagan groups and activities. You can listen to some great pagan music. You can sit in the the shade and let your imagination sweep you away during one of our Mother Goose circles, where you’ll hear fairy tales and stories brought to life. Salt Lake City Pagan Pride Day is the perfect chance for you to reconnect with friends in the Pagan community. Bring one non-perishable food item to get in free.

Plein Air Festival

Thanksgiving Point, a scenic cultural gathering place, will offer its 55-acre garden and other property venues as a canvas to more than 30 local artists in its annual Plein Air Festival, Sept. 8-10. Painters and sculptors will spread out across the 300-acre space to create works of art in the open air where spectators can watch, interact and learn from their talent.

“Our Gardens have proved to be an inspiring venue for the local talent and we are pleased once again to offer the Gardens as well as our other inspiring venues Farm Country, the Museum of Ancient Life and Water Tower Plaza as subject matter for the artists,” said Blake Wigdahl, director of programming at Thanksgiving Point. “Plein air is an exercise in fine art for the artists as well as the spectators.”
